Why it works this way

A vest is not a buy-it-once item.

Every cooling product has a running cost. Ice vests need ice, a freezer, and someone to manage both. Evaporative vests need re-soaking and stop working in humidity. PCM packs wear out and get re-bought every 12 to 18 months.

  • Batteries are consumable. They lose capacity with cycles. Buying a vest outright just means you own that problem in year two.
  • It comes out of opex. No capital request, no depreciation schedule, no asset tag. A safety lead can approve it directly.

How much does Clema cost?
$499 per worker per year, with the hardware included. Across a 250-day working year that is about $2 per worker per day. There is no separate equipment purchase.
Why is Clema a subscription instead of a purchase?
Batteries are consumable and lose capacity with use, so a cooling vest is not a buy-it-once item. The subscription replaces the batteries every year, covers the hardware, and comes out of an operating budget rather than requiring a capital request.
What is included in the annual subscription?
The ClemaCore rig, four hot-swap batteries refreshed every year, a dual charger, next-business-day replacement if a unit fails, and a hardware refresh every three years. Everything is covered for as long as the subscription is active.
What happens if a unit breaks?
Clema ships a replacement the next business day and the failed unit goes back in the same box. There is no repair queue and no deductible while the subscription is active.
Is there a minimum term?
The term is one year per worker, billed annually. It renews unless cancelled before the renewal date, and units are returned at the end of the term.
Can I subscribe for a whole crew?
Yes. Pricing is per worker, so a crew of 25 is 25 subscriptions. Crews of 10 or more are set up directly so sizing, rollout, and invoicing can be planned with your safety lead.
When does the first year start?
The subscription year starts when your units ship, not when you reserve. The first batch sold out, so reservations now hold a place in the limited 2027 deployment.
How does the cost compare to ice or evaporative vests?
Cheaper vests carry recurring costs that rarely appear on the invoice: daily ice, freezer space and the labour to manage it, re-soaking, and packs that wear out every 12 to 18 months. A single heat-related incident can cost $50,000 to $200,000 before litigation. See all six vest types compared.
